As high-speed rail technology continues to advance rapidly, the structural performance of rail vehicle bodies becomes increasingly important, playing a critical role in ensuring safety, enhancing passenger comfort, and improving the overall durability of the trains. To support research in this area, Dynatronic provided key instrumentation for a modal testing project led by the Rail Transit Laboratory at Southwest Jiaotong University.

The test aimed to thoroughly analyze the modal parameters of high-speed rail vehicle body models—specifically focusing on their natural frequencies, mode shapes, and damping ratios. These parameters are crucial for accurately evaluating how the car body responds to various dynamic loads and vibrations encountered during regular operation. Understanding these characteristics helps ensure better performance, safety, and comfort in high-speed rail systems.

Dynatronic supplied the RE-846U data acquisition system, a high-speed, multi-channel DAQ unit tailored for vibration and structural testing. In conjunction with DE311E three-axis accelerometers and instrumented force hammers, the system enabled precise excitation and measurement of the car body’s vibrational behavior under controlled impact conditions.

Key goals of the test:
